IREE Program in Networks-on-Chip at UNLV
The International Research
and Education in Engineering (IREE) Program in Networks-on-Chip is a National Science Foundation (NSF) funded program
aiming to provide the opportunity for undergraduate students to participate in
our NSF funded research project on Networks-on-Chip (NoC), gain useful research
experience in the exciting area, empower the students with general research
methods, specific skills and techniques in this area, and presentation and
writing skills. Participating students will be supported to take the
pre-training session supervised by Drs. Mei Yang and Yingtao Jiang during Fall
2007 and Spring 2008. Two students will be selected to join the research team
at Nankai University,
Tianjin, China in
summer 2008.
The pre-training activities
at UNLV include literature study, independent study courses, project
development, research seminars, and professional activities. The research
projects are designed to be related to our NSF funded research project. After
the pre-training session, the students will continue working on related
projects at Nankai University. The students will also have opportunities to study Chinese language and
culture through attending courses and social activities.

General Requirements for the Applicant:
·
U. S. citizen or U. S.
permanent resident
·
Enrolled in a bachelor program at
UNLV (part-time or full-time) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer
Science, or a closely related major
·
Has completed junior or sophomore
year of study in his/her major
·
GPA 3.0 or above
·
Programming knowledge in C, C++,
or Java
·
Programming knowledge in VHDL or
Verilog HDL (preferable)
